I will answer this in the vein that you are thinking of showing. So you are dealing with bloodlines, improving and being a serious breeder.

This is a fault that not only impacts the doe herself, but your ethics as a breeder and her bloodline. She is not only not showable but unregisterable. Harsh? You bet. It is a bloodline fault, and I would look very closely at both dam and sire, certainly not repeating this, new buck? Not something I would want to keep and use again. I have never seen this in our Nubian bloodlines (mostly Price of the Field influenced), faults in Nubians are usually facial problems due to their roman noses, over and underbites etc. We do have a bloodline in Texas of Lamancha's that are notorious for extra teats. Be very careful without a breeders help of cutting off the offending teat. Never simply snip off a teat, guessing which one is the REAL teat. Snipping off a teat with an orifice in it will result in a leaking hole when the doe freshens. It would have to be cut and sutured or cauterized shut. You may be able to fool some judges who rush through juniors but not all judges, and certainly not when she is a milker. Being last in line with the judge making the comment "the doe has a problem with her udder" is the most embarassing thing that will ever happen to you or your daughter! She of course would make a great pet, a great milker, but with this fault always lurking to come back and bite you, she would also make a good mom for meat goat kids. With a good enough milk supply a doe like this is a likely prospect, unregistered for a diary. Vicki
