Well the week is getting long, hot, and dry. We moved in on August 4(see previous posting)and we did our first show yesterday (August 8). We are a proud and happy family. Our son's meat goat (percentage boer/other little bit is nubian) made the championship drive and ended up number 3. He was one of the last 3 standing for quite awhile and yes mom and dad were nervous on the sidelines. Our big boy is 7 1/2 mos. old and weighed in at a whopping 108#, only other biggest is 112# which turned out to be grand champion. But for our 9 yr. old 3rd place is a great place to start. Gives you something to work toward. Tomorrow at 8AM our nubian Sr. kid girls take center stage. After scoping out the competition all week I think things look good for them too. Fingers are crossed. The heat has been in the 90's with high humidity. Everybody and the animals have been stressed. Some nice rain showers are moving through this afternoon. Will give results when we get home on Saturday. Can't wait to get back home but it's been really fun. MaryMc
