Wormers are dependant upon what wormers the previous owners used and what is working in your area. Strongid is a nonworking product here, even in Texas A&M's information they were only getting a 68% kill. Problem number 2 is switching. You want to use a wormer, fecal to see if it is working, and if it is working continue using it until you start to see some resistance. Then switch classes of wormers. We recently switched after using Valbazen for 8 years, previously using it at 6cc per 100 pounds, we had to go to 8cc per 100 pounds, have given it a rest here, am using it on my kids still, but am using Ivermectin injectable given orally, 2cc per 100 pounds on my adults. Though many of my yearlings get very heavy when not bred or milking, many topping 150, they slim down quickly when milking. A big strapping tall doe is the goal, fat behind the point of shoulder over the ribs, means fat in the udder, and around the organs, makes them hard to breed and hard to keep in milk. My bloodline gets its full heigth at about 3, but doesn't fill out and get their full width till 5. My good friends 3 year olds are as big as my 5 year olds, a very quickly maturing bloodline, though our older gals are about the same, we may have hers beaten on width throughout, hers being a little dairier of a line. So you can see all goats are different. And......before you break your back, buy yourself a weight tape! We actually have newbies guess how much goats weigh at the house, they are seldom even close to guessing correctly! Vicki
