I believe you're thinking of freemartinism..when a female goat is rendered sterile due to a combining/exchanging of fetal membranes in the early stages of pregnancy with a male sibling. While this is fairly common in cattle, it's not very common in goats. Although last spring, after 22 years of breeding, I did have one freemartin doe...first one ever, and probably won't ever have one again. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. As for the moldy hay...I also doubt a doe would be likely to abort, but I'd be more concerned about rumen upset and pneumonia. I'm surprised they found it tasty...mine won't eat anything moldy - they're too picky. :)patty
