Why would this rule out guard dogs. My dogs have always loved the baby goats more than any of the other ages. Just try to come and take one of Morgan's (my almost 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback cross) 2 week old infants from the pen! Now she would be happy for you to take my older does, when she has to go out in their pen, she makes big huge circles around the barn, making sure she knows just where each on of them are :) We are also very pleased with our two standard donkeys, they are Jennies (girls) and though I haven't put them in with little goats, they are wonderful out with the yearlings.
