Cocci is a parisite in the intestine, several animals have this,9 rabbit, chickens, sheep, goats) but the cocci is species specific, chicken cocci won't infest goat etc. There is no vacine for cocci, you have to treat it with medication. There are several different kinds. Some are added to feed and some are added to water. You never completely get rid of cocci you only treat when the load gets to be to much for your goat. Young goats are more sucseptible to cocci at about 2 months of age. They've just got their first case yoiu might say and it sort of overloads their system. Once you can get that cleared up they are sort of immune to them unless they get really stressed, ( short rations, not enough water, shows, etc). They can also just build up a load and need to be treated occaisionally. I generally feed a coccistat to all my creep feed for my young stock for about 4 months then I'll treat my drinking water about 2 times a year.
