To treat bloat give vegetable oil, about 1/2 cup, then stand the goat with the head higher than the rear and deeply massage the left flank area to help break up the bubbles trapping the gas and to help the goat burp. For eating the corn give Milk of Magnesia at the adult dose to move the grain on out of the digestive track. Do not try to stop any resulting diarrhea. Do not feed any grain for the next 4 to 5 days until the diarrhea has stopped. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Are they up-to-date on their CDT? If not, give that right away. You might want to give CD anti-toxin - this is not the same as the vaccine, provides more immediate but temporary protection. Do a search for bloat and treat accordingly. Sandi |

Corn is grain. What are the does doing? Will they eat or drink? Are they laying around bloated? Are they showing signs of discomfort like moaning, teeth grinding, head drooped, eyes watering? |

Hi, does (yearlig and 2 yo) got out last night. We don't know what they were in. Not grain, it was closed. Perhaps chicken scratch and corn. Except for diarreah today, seemed ok, no temp. Tonight won't eat, resp 20 and 29, pulse are about 117-120. Please advise. Thank you. |
