Probably. Could also be the particular location too. If you have some Caladryl lotion (the kind with Benedryl in it) you might try that on it, or some cortisone cream.

I've had ticks on them before, but I've never had the pouch-like swelling with it. Do you think that is a reaction by this particular goat to ticks? Thanks - JC

She should be fine. Mine get ticks all the time and I've never had one with a tick borne illness, just the reaction you describe.

Clover, my Lamancha milker, has a swollen place on her neck. At first I thought it was a puncture wound because it was dark in the middle and about a dime size red area around it but when I got a good look at it I saw a lone star tick ( the small brown ones with the white spot on the back). I pulled it off, sprayed the spot with Furral and the swelling seemed to be going down some. My question is, do goats get diseases from ticks? I want to start treatment on her asap, plus I am milking her and don't want to pass anything on through the milk. Thanks
