Scour Control 2 is a medicated milk replacer to be used instead of the regular milk replacer. It is made of milk protein, no soy, and has Oxytetracycline & an antibacterial(can't remember the name & don't have the package to check). I was giving it for one feeding per day, the other feedings I used the regular milk replacer and added Probios powder to one of those feedings. Since your reply I have stopped the Scour Control 2 and started Albon 12.5% at 1cc per 5 pounds and am also giving Probios powder in one feeding a day. He is on day 4 out of 5 days medication and his poop is almost normal. Still a little soft, but he is starting to form pellets and the color is dark brown/blackish - the same as the kids with no problems. Thanks again Maggie! This forum & you have been a God send!!! I have had kids this age get coccidia. The oxytet won't help this and it is not usually a good idea to give any ruminants antibiotics orally. it kills the vital digestive microbes. What is in Scour Control 2? Is it an antibiotic? Is it an electrolyte? So give a probiotic or yogurt (for the yogurt give 2 to 3 teaspoons). Start him on a sulfa drug such as Sulmet or Albon 12.5% drinking water solution at 1 cc per 5 pounds for teh frist day and then you can give half that at 1 cc per 10 pounds for 4 more days (I just give the full 1 cc per 5 pounds all 5 days). I have a 3 1/2 week old Nigerian Dwarf/Mini Longhair Fainting goat/Pygmy mix buckling with diarrhea. He started with loose medium brown diarrhea about 5 days ago. I put him on a special formula called Scour Control 2. It hasn't seemed to help. The stools are not frothy and now the color ranges from light to medium brown. He seems healthy otherwise: drinks his bottle well, adequate amount of urine output, playful, nibbling on things, etc. The loose stools are the only apparent problem. This evening I gave him Oxytetracycline tablet crushed & disolved in warm water 25mg by mouth with a syringe. He weights about 5 pounds. He was a little smaller than average at birth, he was a quad born by c-section. Two of his brothers are a little bigger than he is. He was the weakest at birth & needed oxygen for awhile, but then was fine until the loose stools. Any suggestions? Tina
