Thanks for the help Maggie... I went out this morning to check on her and she seems to be doing fine... I think she was just a little constipated to be honest... But for now she seems to be doing well, and she shows no signs of being wormy... Thanks for the help.. Having someone out there that knows what they are talking about sure does bring a sigh of relief.. Thanks alot... David

You will have to be more specific about her symptoms.

Giving an antibiotic for a virus is USELESS. Antibiotics only work for a BACTERIAL infection. The easiest way to tell if an antibiotic may work is to take the goat's temperature. If the goat has a fever of over 104 then it likely has a bacterial infection. Any time you give a dose of antibiotic you should be planning to give the WHOLE 5 to 7 day course. For penicillin that is 1 cc per 20 pounds twice a day by SQ injection for at least 5 days. Giving ONE shot or only giving antibiotics for a day or two makes any bacteria in her body more resistant to that particular drug whether that bacteria is causing her a problem at that time or not.

With this goat I want you to also look at her lower inner eyelids. They should be bright rosy or salmon pink. If they are pale pink or white she is anemic from worms.

And it could be you just woke her up after a hard day of chasing kids...
