Sure send it to my msn address. But it sounds like you may have to have a vet remove it.

Some people have had good results by using castration bands for removing horns and scurs, too. You can go to this site for more information http://www.justkiddin.com.au/goat-horns.htm#7

I have never removed a horn this way but one of th first breeders I bought goats from did all of his this way.

Maggie, this seems to be the entire horn growing. Completely solid, and it is a doeling. I will send you a picture, but will not be able to do that until tomorrow when hubby can take the pic. Is it ok to send it to your msn address?
Thanks!

You can always dehorn but it can be too late to disbud with an iron. The disbudding iron has to fit over the horn bud, horn point or scur to be effective. Dehorning can be done with saw wire, or a special tool that cuts the horn off at the base. These are procedures best done by a vet with at least a local anesthetic.

Regrowth of horn material at the site is called a scur. Does the scur wiggle or is it solid? Is this a doe, buck or wether? Can you send me a picture?

I have a kid that was dehorned before I bought her. Born 3/10, dehorned 3/26. Only one side is growning. When is the latest they can be dehorned? Everything I can find about the process seems to indicate that it should be done very early. I can't seem to find anything tho that says when it TOO LATE to do it. I'm at a total loss here.
Thanks for your help!
