Thanks so much for your reply... looking at it, I think you are right about a hematoma of some kind. I suppose she got banged pretty hard in her abdomen. This morning milk was way down, temp was normal, appetite was usual. The only difference was that the swelling was more diffuse, more spread out than last night. I will make a call to my vet and see what she thinks now that it is office hours. Thanks again.

No I don't think it can be milk, it doesn't work that way. The milk can not leak from the udder into the abdomen. Not sure what it might be. If she were mine I would wait a day and see what happens, since she is acting otherwise normally. She may have injured her milk vein (this would tend to explain why that side si dry) and have a big hematoma. If it stays swollen like this have your vet look at it and maybe do a needle tap to see what the swelling is filled with.

I have an older doe, 8 yrs old who is a heavy milker. I have been trying to dry her off and have been down to once a day milkings and now have gone down to every other day. Last night we milked her out and milk production was down finally. Well tonight her right side (abdomen) is swollen and bulging ahead of her udder. It feels tight but you can feel that it is fluid. Her left udder was full, right side was empty. Is this milk that has gone into her abdominal cavitiy somehow?? Temp is normal and she is eating as normal. Help!! I have never seen anything like this and have not found any information on this searching!!
