Thank you - I couldn't remeber if banamine reduced fever too at the time or not and I do believe it did drop it too low - down to 101.9 and the grass was wet that morning and a little chiller; thankfully it came back up though and he seems to be doing well. His temp this morning was 102.2.
Thanks for all your help!

Could have been a virus, could have been a touch of polio. The dose for penicillin is at least 1 cc per 20 pounds, so you underdosed that. Not being able to lift his head points to polio but a high fever can bring on polio by killing off the digestive microbes. I would continue with the Vitamin B, give probios, check his lower inner eyelids. Worms can cuase polio and bowel problems....Could be he had several things goe wrong, you know the dominio effect...You don't need to give banamine and motrin, they are both fever and pain reducers. Banamine actually works better. Giving both can actually cause problems, they both can cause ulcers, giving both can make the body temp drop too low.

We have a boer buck who weighs around 50-65 lbs. We started with a temp of 106.2 we gave 2cc penicillin, 1/2 banamine, and approx. 5 cc motrin and 2cc vitamin B, 6cc nutradrench. His fever fell to about 103.5 in about 1-2 hours and went to eating something and then this morning his temp was 101.9 moved to separate pen as well. This morning gave another 2cc pen., 1/2cc banamine, 2cc vitamin B, 6cc more of nutridrench and also drenched some molasses and water with nutridrench and just some plain water as well. Seems to be doing better, couldn't even lift head this morning and is now laying with head up and temp 102.5. After that one dose of pen-g and motrin and other goodies I never had to give the motrin for fever again. It is now currently 102.6. After about 1-1/2 days he was laying with his head up instead of on the ground and today he is up trotting around calling for his brother in the most saddening cry. Still a little wobblely so he'll stay at least til the antibotics are done but I'm really not sure what this was. Was it pnemonia? Does pneumonia create bowel problems or could that have been something else entirely?
