Oh well live and learn. I probably would have had to try too. At least you are one that can make the "big decision" when you need to. That is one of the hardest things to learn to do, and some people never learn it.

Thank you Maggie for the encouragement and recomendations. Unfortunately, her condition deteriated from yesterday eve and by this morning I had to put her down. Besides the injured hip she showed signs of other internal damage.

I did an autopsy on the hip area. The femur was intact but its connecting socket on the pelvis was shattered. Also the bone containing the socket was sharply broken away both front and behind. Also I belive that one of the jagged ends tore into an intestine. After seeing that I felt sorry that I did not put her down sooner.

Sounds like you are doing all you can. With her rear elevated she may bloat so watch for that. You need to get her up 3 to 4 times a day if you can. Likely the femur is broken and she won't heal, but where there is life there's hope. Try offering hay, pine needles, leaves, alfalfa. Try alfalfa pellets, or alfalfa cubes that have been soaked and broken up. Roughage would be best for her digestive tract to get it going again. You can try oatmeal either dry or as a mash or gruel with a bit of molasses for flavor. She may have other problems like a heavy worm load. No need to "waste" your thiamin, just use the B complex and give it once or twice a day. She needs pain relief, the motrin can cause digestive problems too, but her need outweighs the risk. I have used banamine for up to 2 weeks when the need was great. Go with the lightest dose possible maybe .5 to 1 cc once a day. Aspirin doesn't work well on goats.

Update: This morning the doe laying with head down and seems to have stomach pains. Even though not eating much anything she had loose bowel movements overnite. I think the sugars in the Magic causing the diarrhea so I am discontinuing that.

Gave her 2cc B-Complex plus 200mg Thiamin SQ. Not sure when to repeat this dosage, perhaps every other day?

Gave 10ml of 50% dextrose orally. Another dab of probios

Got her up and held her standing for 5 minutes while rubbing her body down. Laid her back down on right side on a slope with rear legs slightly elevated. She seems most confortable in that position. It is helping to drain the fluid out of her rear legs that been building up.
Thirty minutes after the meds she seems alot better, with her neck and head up and observant of surroundings.
Going out to give 25ml of Pepto Bismol. I also thought of starting her on liquid moltrin this afternoon.
Not sure if that would be bad for the stomach at this time. Also need her to start eating. Preferably something that is easy on her digestive tract, but not sure what.

I came into possesion of a doe about 120 lbs. that been hit by an auto in the right thigh area. I am not sure of the extent of injuries inside. The thigh became swollen. She is somewhat in shock from the accident. At first day after, she was able to reluctantly get up but was able to limp with the injured leg. First day gave 2cc banamine IM and 4.5 cc Biomycin. Second day gave 1cc Banamine. Third day 1cc Banamine and another 4.5 Biomycin. She has not been eating since accident but drinks water. I been giving some Magic some bread pieces with peanut butter on it. Been offering fresh hay and commercial goat feed. She will not eat that. Been giving Probios once a day. She appears at times to have pain in the stomach. She does deficate, I think the Magic is promoting this and also making it more thin as time goes on. But I had not seen her urinate
I have to help her stand once in a while now since she is weak. I am trying to give her every chance to recover but I know will take a long time if she pulls thru.

I read that Banamine will cause internal damage after long term usage. So after three doses now I wondering what else to use. She needs some serious pain reliever. Did not think asprin good idea on empty stomach.
How often should I get her to stand up?
Should I continue with the Magic? What else can I try to get her to eat? I also have not seen her chew any cud since the accident. Also how often should I give the Biomycin? Please Help.
