Ant poison is sweet and she may have eaten it. Do be careful when using these kinds of products around your goats. Many are much more toxic and can kill quickly. Glad to hear she is doing fine.

Mom is doing fine. I've been trying to see her poo for the past 2 days and finally caught her yesterday evening...and all is back to normal. I'm thinking she must have ate something (ant poison maybe - i did sprinkled some on a single mound and she may have got into it?) Very strange but all is well now. Thanks, Maggie.

You can give kaopectate to help control the diarrhea. The dose for Albon 12.5% drinking water solution is 1 cc per 5 pounds. If her problem is coccidia it won't improve much for a couple of days.

Has she had a recent change of diet? Did you suddenly start giving grain or increase her grain ration? This can cause diarrhea. In which case you should not try to stop it as she may have a touch of acidosis or even enterotoxemia (take her temp if she has a fever she may have entero...) In case she has a temp start her on penicillin at 1 cc per 15 pounds and give the CD antitoxin (not the vaccine).Reduce the grain ration, feed lots of hay and make sure her water is clean and fresh.

Also deworm her. Dormant worms become very active right after kidding. Use Ivomec Injectable for Cattle, give at leat 1 cc per 25 pounds but give it orally. Give for 2 days and repeat in 2 weeks.

Lots of my does get loose stools (not this loose though) right after kidding. You might also let her out for a bit of exercise to help her digestive system "giggle" back into place.

I have a doe that kidded one week ago. Everything was normal until today. She has severe diarrhea - looks like water pouring from her. Very little color. At first I thot she was urinating but it was actually coming from her rectum. I have given her 40 cc of Albon about 3 hrs ago and so far no change. Do not know correct dosage. Have never experienced this before. Worried she will dehydrate... has beautiful new little buck! Help!
