WOOHOO! I love happy endings. Yeah those remedies don't sound like they would taste very good, but I have heard they really work very well.

"Millie" the goat is much better now, thank you. She wasn't fond of the remedy, but is now grazing in the field with all the rest. Thanks again!

Tomato plants, potato plants, pepper plants, eggplant plants are all members of the nightshade family and quite toxic. The plant poisoning recipe should help.

Thanks Tammatha,
I just had my goats in a new temp. pasture, cleaning up my dead garden which included tomato plants. I'm going to try one of the poison atidotes listed on the 411 page and see how it goes. It does include baking soda. Thanks again I'll let you know how it goes.

Greetings,

I have seen it happen when forage is low (as when it is dry) that some goats (many times more so if they are young) will eat things that they should not...I think we can rule out wild cherry or white snake root at this point or she would not still be alive,,,but it could very well be that she has eaten something toxic...ok so first have you got baking soda out for your goats free choice..and if so have you seen her into it?..if not ,,I would if she were mine offer her some ,,,as well as some probiotic...

Have you checked her gums & eyes? how is the color?

How about her temp? is it high or a little low?

This part is going to sound gross..but was there an odd smell to the matter she brought back up?

Is she bloated at all?

NEED HELP! I have an 8 month old doe who started yesterday a.m. with diarrhea. By late afternoon she was leaning toward more solid manure. She was off her feed all day, all night, and still is today. She is not interested in grain or veggie scraps. Last night she started drinking water much more than usual. She is still up and walking around. My son just witnessed her drink more than the usual water, followed within minutes with vomiting up material the same color as the diarrhea(light brown). In 6 years I've never had a goat vomit! She was dosed with Cydectin yesterday as a precaution, and had been wormed with the same in May and July. We have had a serious drout here in VA so I hesitate to think that this is a worm thing.
This is a very nice doe that my daughter has shown at the fair and we hate to possibly lose her. Any ideas?}
