The gestation for a goat is about 5 months or 145 to 155 days. Here is an illustrated article on how to tell a goat's age by its teeth. Is the udder large and tight? Has it gotten bigger in the last month? She could be due any minute if she was bred just before you got her. But a big belly doesn't necessarily mean a pregnant goat. Especially if she was just as big 5 months ago! They only really get big the last 4 weeks or so. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Pam, Some goats have a very wide mid-section, which is good as it gives their rumen more room. Is the milk substance watery looking? If so, it can be a precocious udder. It could also be a false pregnancy. You can tell how old a goat is by it's teeth. I can't help you here because I don't know how to age one. Someone else might have more suggestions. Good luck, Dawn |
