i purchased a plastic bowel with the heating coils inside the bowl so they can't get it but it doesn't keep the water warm just from freezing. The ele heater you use keeps the water warm? What kind ele heater is this and what kind of pan do you use. I am sure we are all very curious to try it. |

Thanks, Maggie I am used to spoiled goats, just not for this reason. My herd sire, Thor, just follows me around all day, looking for love in any way he can find it. Sounds a lot like the 60's and 70's were for some of us old hippies. Thanks again for all you do for the "goat people." |

Beware Clark! Once you start this they won't let you stop! They like "plain" warm water too. Make it almost hot, very very warm. Mine only get it sweetened after kidding. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I couldn't resist posting to this. As an old dairy goat farmer from Northern Wisconsin, I was always happy to get water in liquid form to my herd during the winter months (in Wisconsin, that is September thru April)at all, let alone have it warm. Now I am in West Virginia, and tomorrow morning I will deliver a couple of buckets of warm, sweetened water to the herd, just because you all say they will love it. God bless you characters for your love of your animals, although now you have given me yet another "chore" each day. Take good care. Clark |

I give my goats hot water too morning and night. Sometimes I put a little apple cidar vinegar in it. They come running to me when they see me coming. I've never seen them suck so much water down so fast! |

I have looked for a water dish that would make the water warm too but they don't exist. You can get a heater that goes into a bucket and warms the water but you have to be there to turn it off or it can boil the water. Goats sure to like their warm water! My new goatie mothers even like it in the warmer months right after they have given birth. Then I add a bit of molasses (looks like strong iced tea) and it gives them a nice boost after their efforts and losing alot of fluids giving birth. I have a friend that had a special hot water spigot run to the outside of her house, close to her goat pens so she wouldn't have to tote buckets from the house. Her goats get warm water twice a day. I am coming back in my next life as one of her goats! LOL!! Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

It has begun to get cold at night 30 degrees. I decided that if I could warm up with hot chocolate I would warm the goats up with warm (hot) water. Now when they see me with the little white bucket they come running. Of course the water dish I have will just keep the water from freezing. I wish it would keep it warm, haven't found one yet. I want to make sure it won't hurt them in some way. |
