Today would you do every 6 hrs and tomorrow try every 8 hrs since I will be back at work? Actually I would give him an injection at 7:00 am, then when I come home at 4:oo, and then again before bed at 10:00-11:00. How does this sound to you? Thank you for all you help, I don't know what I would do without this site. |

You might be able to back off giving it to every 6 to 8 hours. Only time will tell. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

The baby is still down. He's eating well and pooping and peeping. We have been exercising him and it seems that sometimes the legs loosen up a little and aren't real stiff but he still can't walk. What should I do about the vit B, we are still given it every 4 hrs? |

He needs to try to stand up or be helped up and supported so he can remain standing for a few minutes. You can "drape" him over a bale of hay to let his legs just touch the ground like they would if he were standing and bend and straighten and massage all 4 legs for 10 to 15 minutes or longer if he is reasonably comfortable. Do this 3 to 4 times or more per day while he is down. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Decrease the amount of time between the injections but still give the same amount. If you were giving them at every 6 hours try giving at every 4 hours. Many people underestimate the weight of the goat and don't give enough, giving the injections of B1 more frequently will compensate for that. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

So should I decrease the injections starting now? I will start the baking soda drench. Any thing I can do to prevent pnemonia from starting? He is already getting penicillin. |
