Sandi, After seeing the picture I would say she is definately a boer or boer cross. She is a pretty little thing. I would agree she is still young. I think red boers are very pretty. Dawn |

Dawn - I looked up the San Clemente goats. Interesting breed, and the fine-boned part seems to fit. She doesn't have the facial markings, but she is listed as 75% boer, so one can never know for sure. |

Thanks Maggie - I don't know why I didn't just think it was her age. Now that I think of it, her horns are just little stubs, where the other does in the same age have horns that are 3 to 4 inches or more in length. I went to your site - love the pygmies! |

No pygmy in that doe, she looks all boer to me. No pygmy characteristics AT ALL. She may be younger than the seller suggested. A pygmy cross would likely be a pygmy color, would have upright or semi upright ears, a DISHED profile, comparatively short legs and a short neck. She is already taller than any of my does (way taller) and most of my bucks and she is DEFINITELY still just a kid. I've never posted pictures here, but I'll try. She's 30-35 lbs, stands 20 inches at the shoulders. |

She looks to be about 30 or 40 lbs. I have to get another animal to the vet - I'll measure and weigh her and get pictures later today. |

She could also be a San Clemente cross. |

It would be hard to say how big a pygmy cross might be, my purebred 6 month old does are about 25 pounds 12 to 14 inches at the shoulder. Can you send me a picture? Red IS NOT a pygmy color. Lots of goats being sold at auction have had very poor care and do not grow well at all. Some spanish crosses and fainting goat crosses can be very small too. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

This is for Maggie - I recently bought a few does at an auction. One was a solid red listed as a 6 month old, 75% boer. I strongly suspect that she is more pygmy than boer. How big would a 6 month pygmy doe be? I have this doe with my 6 month boers, and she is about half their size. |
