Any grain fed straght will lack some nutrients and have an excess of other things. A balanced goat feed, or dry COB (a blend of corn oats and barley) is a much better feed. You should also offer a good goat loose mineral as forage, ahy and grain is often deficient in certain necessary trace minerals. Do not use a mineral labeled for sheep and goats, this will be too low in copper, and goats need copper for a good immune system, healthy skin and coat, parastie resistance and a healthy reproductive system. I feed corn, oats, protein, a little molasses and there might be something else in there can't remember. Some of my goats eat the oats and some don't. If there is anything left in the trough it's always oats. You might want to try and mix it in. I wouldn't change it all at once if you were going to change. You might want to consider a mixture of things. I'm sure someone will have better info for you. Cindy

I am wondering about oates instead of corn(goat candy). I put my heard of 20 in the pen at night and treat them with a little corn(1 cup a peace) to make sure they all come in. I can buy oates @ the same price as corn $25/55ga-drum. Question are Oates better? Thx Rx |
