Even though they have had their shots (which are only 60 to 80 percent effective at best) start them on Milk of Magnesia to help move all of that grain out of their systems. Give 15 cc per 100 pounds every 6 hours until the poop goes from normal to clumpy to normal again. The MOM will also help counter any acidosis. Needless to say NO GRAIN for at least the next 5 days or so, but plenty of grass hay. The cattle bloat blocks won't be very effective as a goat can't lick enough to do any good and it is for bloat caused by lush grass not grain. I treat any signs of bloat by giving vegetable oil (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup) and massage the left flank deeply to break up the froth and help the goat burp.

I just had some goats get into one of my grain bins. I have been using baking soda and they have all had their cd&t shots too. Will cattle bloat blocks help them in preventing bloat? Is it safe? what else can I use? Please let me know thanks Linda
