She has colostrum in her udder now, they make it during the last 3 weeks (or so) of pregnancy. They don't start producing milk until AFTER they kid. Colostrum can look like just like milk, but if you taste it it doesn't TASTE like milk. One sure test is to microwave a bit of it. If it turns semisolid it is colostrum, if it stays liquid it is milk.... That's how I tell when all the colostrum is out and I can start keeping the milk for the people to drink.

Faith the doe i have posted on with her lost ligiments could she have had a false labor? I think now that she should kidding late Friday or eary Saturday. Her udder is getting alot tighter and is looking ready! When i thought she was kidding i milked a little milk out of her and it was milk . When she is in labor would it be her first milk or do they get it after they kidd?
