thanks for the info - ya think the vets would know about this !! Duh !! I will share the info with him - FYI they say never give a wheater grain or alfalfa to rich and can also cause stones later on in the life of a pet goat ? so I just give my little rusty a small piece of graham cracker for a treat ! thanks : ) terry : ) |

I would put him on ammonium chloride. He doesn't have only 2 stones he likely has hundreds in his bladder. These need to be dissolved and passed. For treating possible blockage you dissolve 2 teaspoons of ammonium chloride powder in 10 to 15 cc of water and drench him with this twice a day for a week or 10 days until the urine flow is strong and steady. Tehn you can give 1 teasoon once a day in a bit of grain to help control the formation of stones. For some reason his calcium to phosphorus ratio in his diet is not in balance. The polio is also diet related. Can he get to dry dog food, chicken feed, bird seed? Does the mineral blend you are using have a 2:1 calcium to phosphorus ratio? Does it contain protein? Is your water very hard? Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I love him so - but getting expensive !! please call or email me 360-893-4962 - terry btps@Juno.com ( I am also having trouble with this site - my computer is ancient ) |

I found ammonium chloride at the local feed store. They had it in a large bag and sold it off in any amount a customer wanted. I use it only for my billy goat for prevention of UC. I was told by my vet also that does rarely get stone blockage in the urinary tract. |

I do have Ammonium Chloride available as Maggie said...but as she also mentioned, does rarely get UC. What you might try is red cider vinegar and pure cranberry juice - mix them up 50/50, add some water if you want, and then drench her with it as much as she will take. This concoction works similar to the ammonium chloride but not as fast or as long. I recommend this concoction for people who need ammonium chloride right away and need "something" to get the goat by until the ammonium chloride arrives. |

Are you sure she is having trouble urinating or is she urinating frequently because she is in heat? Does rarely get UC but 3 month old does do go into heat and pee ALOT even just a few drops. You may be able to get ammonium chloride from a vet or you can mail order it sometimes. Goatworld has it for sale in their store. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
