candy,
The same thing happened to us, we run about 70 range nannies, using Ivermectin. The only thing that got rid of the worms was Cydectin cow wormer. It's a rub on but is used on goats orally. 7.5cc per adult nannie, 10cc per adult billy, It works. Ivermectin scares us to death, and we had been using it for a while. We lost 75% of our kid crop that year. Hope everything works out for you.

I agree Maggie...you don't want to underdose that Sulfa rx, we've treated 1cc/10lbs when symptoms and fecals warrant much the same rate of time as you mention and it's good advice to do a followup fecal in one week to see if additional treatment necessary. Here in Northern MN Coccidiosis is not as prevalent as Southern States and less resistance to wormers..perhaps due to Meat Goats are just becoming a viable livestock and have steadily increase in numbers up here in the past 5 year..along with our Freezing seasons coupled with worming routines that break the cycles of parasites and oocyts.

My source says to give the 12.5% sulfa drinking water solution stratight from the bottle at 1 cc per 5 pounds for the first day and 1 cc per 10 pounds for 4 more days (Veterinary Drug Handbook, Goat Medicine by Smith and Sherman). Personally I dose at the higher dose for all 5 days as cocci are showing a resistance to many drugs. I do not advise using Corid, cocci have been showing wide spread resistance to it of years and it is more likely to cause thiamin deficiency leading to a case of polio in the goats being treated.

All goats have some coccidia, how many per gram is your vet seeing? Most adult goats have developed a partial immunity to the few coccidia that they do have.

Synanthic is safe in pregnant horses and assumed safe in other pregnant animals. The recommended dose is about twice the cattle dose by weight. I has shown no serious side effects at 10 times this dose when given to horses, so appears to be quite safe. You must be sure to give enough.

Coccidiosis cannot be treated by Ivomec. You'll need Sulfadimethzine(sp?) 12.5% liquid you can purchase at your local Cenex or Feed Stores fairly cheap and dose at 1cc/25lbs orally. Who keeps trying to tell you it's Coccidiosis? a vet? I'd listen to their advice and follow it..You'll loose a herd fast if you don't.

Hi everyone,
It's Candy again from South MS. I have about 20 Boer does pregnant now, they all look healthy & pregnant. I check eyelids all the time, they were wormed with Ivermectin @ 1cc per 25 pounds the 1st of September. Last night I was filling water buckets & observing & noticed one of the does has Bottlejaw!! I got her & checked her eyelids, they are fairly pink. I have another doe that is recovering from bottlejaw. I can't figure out what is going on. I have a fecal sample to take to the vet today. I've had about 4 fecals done in the last 3 months, trying to find out what my problem is. He keeps telling me it's cocci. I don't think thats what it is. I'm afraid the worms have become ammune to the wormer. I'm afraid I will lose my herd or atleast my kid crop, if I don't figure this out. A lady in my area suggested trying Synanthic, but I'm not sure if it's safe for pregnant does. Is anyone familiar with this wormer? I will let you know the results of the fecal. thanks
