The swelling under the throat is likely a "milk goiter". This is most often seen on very well fed kids and disappears at weaning. You can read more about it at http://fiascofarm.com/goats/milk_neck.htm

I bet his dam just went through a heat cycle and her uterus is still cleaning out hence a bit of bloody discharge. If there is no smell and she is acting fine I would say she is fine.

Hi,
I have a FB Boer buck kid, born Dec. 13th 2005. He is a single baby, but he was a little over 12 pounds at birth. Really nice buck so far, but at about a week old I was peting him and felt something under his throat, kind of like a fatty tissue under the skin. It is still there, seems to have grown a little bit. Anyone ever seen anything like this?
Also, I noticed about 2 days ago, his mother has a bloody discharge, pretty fresh looking. She seems to act normal, should I be concerned three weeks after kidding?
