Hi Sandi and Maggie, I had wondered if maybe she was just in heat... I've never seen her do this before though, but then I guess it can happen. That's a goat for you! She's fine today - It IS the season. I thank you both for your quick responses! ~Erin P.S. I have another question, about yet another doe, which I will post as a seperate thread as it is quite different from just a doe in heat... |

Does in heat will also urinate or atttempt to urinate frequently. If she stops the next day or day after she may well have been in heat. Tis the season... |

Erin, I'm afraid I'm not much help as I have only had goats about a year myself, but a few suggestions are: It might be a UTI. Does she have a fever? If she passes any urine, is it dark, cloudy or foul smelling? Urinary calculi are more common in male goats, but they are possible in does too. Does she pass any urine at all? A severely constipated animal will sometimes squat and strain to go. Is she pooping normally? A doe in labor will often squat and strain. Could this be a miscarriage or a surprise pregnancy you were unaware of? Good luck, and let us know how things turn out. We all learn from each other. Sandi |

Hi, I have a three-year-old Boer doe that seems to be having trouble urinating. She has been squating frequently like she's going to go, but nothing happens. Sometimes she does urinate. She just started this today... What's up with this doe??? I've had goats for three years and this something new to me. Any ideas of what's going on??? Thanks, Erin} |
