Take her temp. If it is above 104 she has an infection, probably a respiratory infection. Continue the Tylan at 1 cc per 20 pounds by SQ injection once a day for at least 5 days. You can also give banamine at 1 cc per 100 pounds once a day to help with the fever and pain and make her feel better so she will eat. If you don't have banamine you can use liquid Children's Motrin at 1 cc per 10 pounds every 4 to 6 hours to help with fever and pain.

Let her out to get some exercise if she is being held in a small pen. Laying around with nothing to do but feed kids every once in a while contributes to respiratory disease. A goat laying down does not breathe deeply and fluids collect in the lungs. I let my does and kids out the day after kidding if they are happy and healthy. Bouncing around helps the kids to develop coordination and helps them get their digestive systems going. Walking around helps do too the uterus to empty the leftover birthing debris, the digestive organs to go back to their normal positions and the lungs to clear.

Extra Sick Goat!

Case
Nanny, had twins a week ago, nice big healthy twins. Milking good. Good mood, she was wagging tail everytime I fed her.

Yesterday night I noticed she hadn't eat to much and was laying down. Still looked bright.

Went out tonight, Goat breating raspy and a bit labored. Eyes weren't sharp, seemed cloudy. Goat stood up. I gave her VIT B Complex, Tylan 200, Penicilin. She laid back down. Also drenched with goat nutridrench.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks
Aaron
