Keep us informed! Tis the baby time of year and we are on baby watch here too. SO far we have 15 bouncing around and a doe due anytime, and another due next week.

The bulging vulva and the opening gapping is pretty normal when does that are carrying alot of babies (and maybe a bit of extra fat). Goats can have a creamy white or yellow discharge 2 weeks before kidding, this is just the mucus plug passing.

Check out how to read the tail ligaments on fiascofarm.com, go to the goat health links to the article and pictures on how to read the tail ligaments. I find that when the does are very close the area around the tail head gets very soft, you can easily pinch your fingers together around the tail head. Also I have noticed that almost all does will have their udder get much bigger about a day before kidding (just when you thought it couldn't get much bigger).

The chances of 9 bucks and 2 does is pretty normal, some years are buck years some are doe years. But after keeping records for well over 10 years and tallying up all the totals we are 50/50 even with 15 bucks and 5 does this year.

This is a similiar question to Sammy J.
I have a pygmy who every time she lays down it looks like she is going into labor. She gets a big bulbous end and looks dilated almost the size of a half dollar -when she gets up it goes away. This has been happening for over a week now as well as some white/yellow discharge now and again. I can see the babies moving so that makes me feel better. She is eating normally also. She has also been resting her head on anything she can find (had a boer do that for a week before she went, I felt so bad for her so hopefully the time is near and all will be well-I HOPE) I also have a boer who is due anyday and has had some opening and closing issues and seems to have been a little wet (sloppy looking but not stringy)for about a week as well. Her opening looked rather loose today when I looked but nothing else is different. Acting fine. Any ideas? Do you think her bag could have a slow leak maybe? It's a little thick not like pee but just a little slippery feeling if you touched it...I DON"T KNOW.....Getting scared now after reading reply to S.J. Thanks! Thank God for our healthy babies so far! 9 bucks and 2 does-what are the odds in that!
