Things seem to be improving! Kids are becoming more stable on their feet-I'm sure if they were out of the tub more often they would be better at it by now but at least they are not getting stepped on or sat on. Mom seems to be doing better-gave 2 doses of the calicum gel so far - I saw a difference in her within hours and she seemed to not mind taking it this morning. Force fed 2 of the three babies last night again 2x's each and this morning all were up eating off mom and just going to town! It was great to see those little tails wiggling away! The one with the wet cough sounds good haven't heard it since last night and seems to be breathing with ease. The birthing trouble came due to the babies being turned in every direction. the first one was completely sideways and upside down blocking the exit-the vet had a time of it. the second one was a little difficult and the third of course not so bad-they were pretty swollen and all were completely exhausted. Everyone is getting back on their feet though slowly but surely and the swelling has come down almost completely now. Vet also said my delousing pour on should be in today. And forgot to mention all the yellow poop! YEAH!!!!!
Thank you for all the help!!!!!!

Lice are species specific you won't get them. Lice are also a fact of life when keeping goats treat your whole herd.

If the kids have not passed all of their meconium, the first black tarry feces, they become constipated and stop sucking even if they sometimes go through the motions. Kids should be pooping yellow milk feces by the time they are 24 hours old. Give an enema, A Fleet's Infant Enema from the drug store works great. Or use a weak kid fedding tube and syringe and give a warm water enema with one drop of liquid dish soap in it. Insert the tube about 1.5 to 2 inches and give 10 to 15 cc (6 to 8 for pygmies). They really needed to nurse more often than every 3 hours their first day. Giving 15 to 20 cc of Ringer's Lactate under the loose skin over the shoulder blade will also help rehydrate the kids without further stressing an overfull digestive system.

Both the doe and kids are very likely selenium deficient. This can result in prolonged unproductive labor, retained placenta and weak kids. You might want to give everyone BoSe too.

If the buckling aspirated milk there is nothing you can do, but some kids can sound "soupy" if they are weak.

Had a delayed labor yesterday-vet came to deliver triplets. Gave penicillin to mom, vit B, hasn't past afterbirth from yesterday afternoon-got a shot from the vet and some calcium gel (she's only up for five minutes at a time) he said she could have milk fever. All were eating very well yesterday. Got the colostrum real good so we were optimistic. Mom was very weak and uncorridinated and was stepping and laying on babies-almost suffocated one. We put the babies in a tub last night to protect them but went out every 3 hours or so to let them feed off mom and gave supplement since she was so weak. Now I have two that really won't suck off mom or the bottle and one seems ok. Looks like they have all come down with lice in that shed. We moved a bale of hay in that was at the side of the house all winter- thinking they might have come from there because no one else has it yet. Getting a pour on tomorrow from the vet hopefully it will help bounce them back? They all just started standing pretty well today and now we're having the sucking trouble. One buck sounds like he has a wet cough, maybe milk in the lungs?

Lice? will that transfer to me feeding the babies on my lap-have to held their head.

PLEASE HELP! ANYTHING WE'RE NOT DOING?
Cindy
