I like to snap them to the fence for about 10 minutes per session. I use 2 snaps, one being a swivel snap so they don't twist around and hurt their necks. After they learn they can't get away from the collar they are much easier to work with. I have noticed that most of the time if you stay by the shoulder and give them a little slack they seem to think maybe they can get away and will walk forward. You just keep up with them and keep firm grip on the collar and soon they learn to stay beside you. Try to avoid getting out front and pulling. Teaching a goat to lead is usually a good patience tester.
