Doe has decided to quit nursing kids

Posted by Brigid Luckey- Smith on April 06, 2001 at 17:48:26:

I am new to goats and have been learning so much from this and another forum and now have a new issue. My Alpine had triplets(2 does and a little boy)and really favored the first born little guy.Yesterday I sold him and Mom is very upset. She has been crying for him almost constantly. Well I noticed this morning that she refused to let the other 2 nurse-this continued all day until I held her while they nursed. She was very upset and I am not sure if she is in pain(too much milk) or continues to be upset over the loss.

No fever, eating fine just generally ornery. Any suggestions are very appreciated-Thank you so much--

Brigid
