I'm kind of worried that something like this might get quickly out of hand. While I can fully understand what is being said here, I'm not sure that I totally agree with the topic in its' entirety. Let me put my two cents down for the record though before I make my decision as how to handle this.
To Zealot: No matter what industry you are dealing with, you are always going to have shady deals made. This is a fact of life. An unpleasant one but a fact nonetheless. If I understand you correctly, you tried to straighten out the purchase you made with the persons selling you the goats and then the IBGA?
Okay, so if that did not resolve the situation, I would contact the Federal Trade Commission and the State Attorney General in your state as well as the state where you made the purchase(s). I would also report the names of the people or businesses you feel did you wrong to the Better Business Bureaus as well. Please keep in mind that I am not a lawyer but these are the actions I would take - only if you really have proof that you have been wronged.
As per using the Message Forum for this kind of topic - it's a sticky situation here. I can understand Zealot's frustration and he/she probably feels that there is no where else to turn. But the Message Forum (and GoatWorld) for that matter was created as a tool to educate those who deal with goats.
This particular topic does and does not fall into the realm of education - it could easily be misconstrued as bashing of others but at least no names were mentioned. So barring that aspect of it, I think it may be alright to discuss these situations and scenarios but please never mention names or infer that anyone may be a thief, stupid, etc. These are the kinds of things that can get us all in trouble.
On one other note, I've been away for a couple of days so I come back and see this going on. It's nice to know that the rest of the people who usually post in the Message Forum have been handling the situation with an intelligent perspective - thank you.
