There is a mambrane (for lack of a better word )that is supposed to develope at birth so that the baby stops getting oxygen/nutrients from their cord. It isn't that it isn't getting tied off (which is an external thing) it's an internal thing which is not working.I have used extra Vit K in dams prior to whelping to stop this. Don't know if it really does anything but it makes me feel better. The other thing that would be interesting is to see if these does(the ones that survive this condition) have the same problems with their kids.
