New arrivals again - and a weak doe kid....

Posted by Nat on April 10, 2001 at 19:51:27:

Well, my goats did it again. On Tuesday, my most horrible day at college (8am-8pm classes n work) I have been lucky enough to be given another set of twins - a black doe, and black buck kid from my two oberhasli goats: Serenity x Merlin's Magic.

The doe kid was chilled when I got to the farm tonight. I warmed her up with a hair dryer, and she then drank a bottle of colostrum. Her brother is doing well. She just seems really tiny, and not totally coordinated, seems like my last set of twins did better. I'm off to go do another feeding and will see how they're doing late tonight. Both have a heat lamp to help get them going as its a little chilly and the older twins were booted into a new pen so they can't pester these guys yet.

Any suggestions to help this little girl get stronger? or just play the waiting game and cross fingers? Mom didnt' have alot of colostrum (she is a poor milker) so I'm thawing some from last week's freshening doe. She's alert, and trying... I just like to see stronger kids.

One last request from everyone!! Names for the doe? The buck is already dubbed "Black Magic" just need a feminie name for a delicate little girl.

Thanks everyone!!!! Thank god kidding is over for me now :-)
