Anything that is in a bale should be handling while wearing pants. I learned that years ago when I was just starting my landscaping business. I put out about 100 bales of pine straw in shorts, and it took my legs weeks to heal up. Hay is no better, or straw for that matter. They will all to tear you to pieces! A tough lesson to learn, but one that the holes in your arms and legs won't let you soon forget. Hope you heal fast.
