We are also raising our goats along a state hwy, and we have gotten lots of questions about goats also. The most common one is as you described!! My answer is always...."a goat will only eat what they can digest". Goats nibble and pick at anything loose or interesting, but it doesn't mean that they are eating in!
Another question to be prepared for is "is it true that all goats stink?" so many non-goat people think that all goats stink. My response is "a billy goat, who pee's all over himself will stink like pee"!! That will give em' a chuckle. Have fun entertaining and educating!!
