I just had to share this trivia, too!
We live near Woodstock, which is no slouch when it comes to altenative medicine--and when we got our first rescued goat, already milking, the local people told us the old wives remedy for poison ivy. Are you ready? Drink the milk from a goat that has eaten poison ivy and it will greatly reduce the rash.
Seriously, though, you'll probably need a packet of those prednisone pills that you take on a decreasing basis if your rash is all over, but my husband has used the spray-on poison ivy treatment from the drugstore shelf, and it stopped it from spreading by coating the skin with a dry film.(works like the spray-on bandaids).
(But he still sends Starlight out to eat some poison ivy the day before he does yardwork, and keeps that bottle marked "poison ivy" in the refrigerator!).
