Message Forum Updates

Posted by GoatWorld on October 26, 2001 at 18:22:31:

Hi folks,

Recently it was posted that I had "made promises" to add new features to the Message Forum and GoatWorld as a whole. Well, as many of you know, I always ask for input and opinions on what kind of new features to add. Sure, I could go ahead and just add a new feature that I think is great and the rest of you might think it ho-hummish.

As a result, a few of you have written to me privately (which is always acceptable) and let me know your ideas and opinions. Unfortunately, I can only work so fast on any one given idea. I do take all ideas into consideration and most often do implement these ideas when the time is right (whether or not I truly agree or not). As I've also said in the past, this web site is as much the people who help to support it (I'm speaking information wise and not financially) as it is mine (the person who glues it all together into a presentation).

So this is why I do ask from time to time that everyone make a concerted effort to offer advice, let me know where things can be found, etc, etc., etc. This way I can continue to provide a presentation that please everyone.

Not everyone is inclined to join the Message Forum since it is now priced at $6.00 per year. I specifically chose the price of $6.00 per year so it would be cheap enough for EVERYONE to afford, but still return a slight bit of income to help pay for the time involved in presenting the site and paying for the monthly fees to host it. Any excess profits from membership fees are applied to the GoatWorld fund which would be used in the event any member happened to fall on hard times and could not feed their goats. Sounds corny but that is exactly what I have had in mind for all of this.

The crux of the situation is that I consider each of you a friend in one way or another and feel that each of you should also consider each other as a friend. So it is among "friends" that each of us can make decisions as such, learn about goats, help each other with goat problems, etc. Of course, none of us are going to agree with each other 100% of the time. That is nature. But it is also an ideal that will help to make our little part of the world a better place to be - to escape to, to turn when you need a shoulder to cry on, just to come and see what's new. This is not only my goal and focus, but what many of you have intimated to me personally over the life of the GoatWorld Message Forum. You felt strongly that it was "the" place to come because it didn't have a whole lot of crap that drove you away from other similar forums. So I still stand behind that pledge, focus and goal for each and everyone of you.

Best regards,

Gary Pfalzbot
