I always sleep with one ear opened..meaning I keep my bedroom window opened enough which is right above my head. We hear the dogs barking all night long, and yes..her those coyotees howling too! I am knocking wood when I say this but so far so good.
We do make sure we lock our chickens up at night, and our fencing is good and tight. We also have our Great Pyr which we count on to let us know when something is wrong.
He has been barking and barking like crazy these nights, rather than ignore him which sometimes I would rather put a muzzel on his mouth..LOL...we go out and check, each time we go outside we hear a rustling in the woods..could be anything but atleast we know he is doing his job. The ole 22 is also ready. We have no fruit trees around so that is a plus for us. I think that is the best thing you can do really. just be prepaired and make sure your goats are protected the best you can.
