There are so many antibiotics out there, sometimes it can be daunting to figure out which one to use. (and I know from first hand (lol pun intended) experience how LA-200 HURTS! ps. ivormec stings like the devil too!)

In our area, you may as well drink a bottle of penicillin - it really dosn't seem to help anything. At work, we've really used Nuflor extensively and had to switch to Excenell because things started forming resistance. In our area, La-200 has become the latest good drug for many reason - it was working ok for some infections were were dealing with, it is easy to get ahold of, and when dealing with difficult animals - the every other day dosing scheme is a real asset when animals are out on pasture - or if you're dealing with a difficult one. Which one is next.. who knows...

I myself hate loading them up right away when they first gets snots, ect. I like to take a temp and watch them. If they start to go downhill I'll start a treatment - continue it. No improvement, I may call the vet or other breeders in the area who are having similar problems and see what seems to be workign on a paticular bug. The biggest problem is like whats happening with people - you feel better so you stop taking the rest of your pills from your doctor.. then you get sick again and the drugs don't work the 2nd time around.

What does cure most is a watchful eye, some good local breeders a cooperative vet and alot of TLC. It's my prefered treatment. No stinging shots! :-) I have also heard of a breeder using childrens' cough medicine for her goats who had sniffles, fever, ect.

my .02 :-)
