Mary I am so glad you said that..and if you don't mind I am going to print out your post and show it to my two sons who have been haunting us for pot belly pigs!!

I have been trying to tell them exactly what you are saying and it goes in one ear and out the other..Of course my husband views it as..well it would wind up on the dinner table anyway...I am just not that type of farmer..LOL..I almost broke down and cried the other night when Mike came home and told me that he sold one of our registered Boers Billy Bob. Even though I knew it was coming, and we had already decided on keeping Billy Jack and selling Billy Bob I was still sad. I mean who really needs two bucks that are brothers you know. He just looked at me and said Well they arent ALL pets..

I am not even too keen on these calves!! I don't know just can't get attached to them like the goats..which is probably good since they are not staying. Last night Mike tells me that in the spring when he finishes building our "goat condo" he is also going to add a few stalls so we can start raising bottle fed calves. He and my son are really enjoying this venture..I just looked at him and said..Just as long as they don't interfear with "MY" goats..

I know I know I am being long winded sorry..but I got a funny (well it wasn't at the time) Pot Belly Pig Story..

About 6 yrs ago My 2 boys and I (Zak was not born yet) went to spend the week at my parents. Mike was home because he could not get off from work. Upon arriving home and walking in my front door there sits on MY COUCH a baby pot belly pig..he really was cute though. Mike said a friend of his had one, and it ate dog or cat food (cant remember which one) and went in a litter box. Now mind you this is during the time when I even hated having a house dog!! I just looked at him w/my mouth hanging opened. So Mike and I went out to the car to get my suitcases and from the driveway we hear the dog going bazerk..things getting knocked over, my kids snickering and laughing and this little pig making huge squealing noises and pig sounds I just said...Ok I will give it one week.

Well guys during this week this "adorable" pig, would dump his food out on the floor and eat it that way..pee'd in the litter box but pooped in the corner of my living room floor..at night took over the corner of my couch and if any of the kids went near him when he was trying to sleep he would nip at them and I could go on..needless to say after one weeks time..OUT WENT THE PIG..!! I know I sound like an old futty dutty..sorry..I was not an animal person then..I look back and that and laugh though..I am still not too keen on my goats wandering into my house though..which does happen often because one of the kids (the two legged ones) will leave my back door opened and Eris just walks right in and lays down on the living room floor..
