Hi Lila
I looked this up in my big green Goat Medicine Book, by Mary C, Smith and David M. Sherman and found it on page 548. And this is what it said. And I quote"
"Propylene Glycol is given orally by dosing syringe, at the rate of 60 ml two to three times daily as a glucose precursor. And it goes ahead and says that some authors suggest as much as 175 to 250 ml of Propylene Glycol twice a day, it also says this dosage seems excessive and likely to overwhele the ability of the rumen flora of an already sick goat to digest it. Overdoes of propylene Glycol can be fatal). "End of quote". I used it on my doe in 1999 that had pregnancy toxemia at 60 ml twice a day for 4 or 5 days prior to surgery and I also gave her the Magic Treatment, didn't know at the time that was what it was called though. But still had to have my Vet do the C-section because she just wouldn't go back to eating what she required carrying triplets. If you give this and your doe goes back to eating what she would require at her stag of pregnancy then stop giving this and just offer her the Magic in warm water several times aday and just keep an eye on her eating, offer her good quality hay at all times. Also keep her seperated from the rest of the herd so you can monitor her progress and feed intake. Good Luck.. Sandy & Kids
