Thanks for replying.
They were last wormed last Oct. Was hoping not to do it again until this spring when I can clean and scrub everythig well when it's done. So I took a dropping sample for the vet to check and he said it was all clear.
He did agree with your idea that the big one was just not ready for winter. I should have thought of that, I didn't get him until late Sep. and I know he didn't get anything but hay and only had a dirt corral to go out in (big part of the reason I took him).
He also said that since I had some trouble with one of the kids last spring when we had a late frost and bad weather that it might be him getting sick again now. The weather has been going from 40 degrees one day to -5 a night later, tonight we are expecting 3-6" of snow --Happy First of Spring!
I cut and dragged them a pine tree up today and they really enjoyed that, but I wondering if I'm giving them enough other food.
I've been giving them grain (corn, barley & sunflower seed) in the morning, about 2-3 cups for the small 4-5 for the big guy. And about the same at night of potatoes with sometimes carrots, apples, cabbage (whatever I can get cheap). They always have hay and mineral block.
From what I've read they should get up to 1 1/2% their body weight in grain ?? How do I possibly weigh a goat? I'm really not good at guessing weights!
Thanks again.
