If you plan on milking her after she is weaned then she will probably stay thin until you let her dry up. I know that they seem so thin I went through this too my first year kidding I too thought something was wrong. How long are you going to milk her Helene? Just curious but thought that she would benifit from a little extra grain beings that she is going to be milked longer than the other does. Dairy breeds are always thinner than some of the other breeds I think, but either way, milking still pulls them down some. Sorry to hear of the calf Helene, we just got one ourselves for our own consumption. Trying not to get attached to the bugger but its hard. So if I ever have a question on this calf I know I can come on here and ask, this is our first one. Glad you feel better about everything. Later.
