Last sunday I posted for help on a doe that was staring up at the barn roof. I want to thank all who offered help and concerns. After posting , we had more storms and lost power and computer was not working. On monday ,she was gone. Of course I wasn't able to read responses from all of you till we were able to get this darn thing up and running again which was too late. From what I read here and in the goatworld articales I now think she had goat polio or possibally listerosis(sp.) I have been so upset over this whole thing. She was a yearling that was the first baby born last spring a couple of days after we purchased her mom. You know how it is with the attachment to the "first " one. I am an emotional slob anyway, and even though I know it was not my fault I feel like I failed her. If I had only known what early symptons were, could I have saved her? She was fine one day (or so she seemed) and bad the next and gone the following.Been feeling at times that I should give up that I don't deserve to raise goats. I am sure all this crazy weather we have had has added to making me feel low,but losing her was the just too much. Again thanks for trying to help and for being here for me. Gloria
