Kellie,
I so understand the frustration with the neighbor's dogs. The neighbor's across the street have a great pyrenese that is totally wild. Since we have goats, their dog has decided that she lives here, along with whatever puppies she has a couple times a year. She cannot be touched and so far she has taught my dogs to eat chickens with her (mine had always just ingnored the chickens till she moved in), and they have gone through over 100 chickens this summer. Now, we live on a very low income, so there is not way to replace what has been eaten.
We are now looking at having to have our dogs put down (which will break the kids hearts), because we cannot break them from killing chickens and because they are getting wilder and wilder. One of our dogs is an escape artist. I have bought fence and she gets out, collar and chain, she gets the collar off, and then I got a harness that I was sure would keep her tied. Of course, you got it, she got off.
I thank God that the dogs have never gone after the goats. We had to get rid of one dog for going after the goats. I need a remedy for the dog trouble here, since the neighbors will not help to catch their dog, and we live in the country and there is no such thing as animal control. I would glady try to feed the neighbor's dog, if I had the money, but we just don't. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
Thank you so much,
Amy
