  • Description
    The Markhor (Capra falconeri), is considered a wild goat.

  • Habitat
    Afghanistan, N. Pakistan, N. India. South Uzbekistan and Tajikstan.

  • Coat Color
    In summer coat is light brown, and thicker in winter.

  • Other Characteristics
    The neck is long and mane is present in males, Pantallus and strong markings. Horns 82-143 cm. in length and are close together and spread out and upwards forming a cork screw. In males, head to tail length is 161-168 cm., height 86-100 cm., and and weight 80-110 kg. In females, head to tail length is 140-150 cm. height 65-70 cm, and weight 32-40 kg.

  • Notes
    The Markhor, Chinkara and Chappar breeds are now extinct in the Sindh area.
